Meta Pixel Will Count More Sales From November 12: What To Do

Quick answer

From November 12, 2026, a new Meta Pixel setting called "Measure conversions on customer devices" starts counting some purchases on the shopper's own phone or computer. It is switched on by default for Pixels that already send events. Your reported Meta purchases may go up without your real orders changing. Do not panic and do not opt out by reflex: record a baseline now and compare Meta's purchases with your real orders after November 12.

What is changing on November 12?

In Events Manager, under your Pixel's settings, there is a new toggle: "Measure conversions on customer devices." It is shown as on, with the line "Measurement starting November 12, 2026."

Meta describes it in two sentences: "Meta measures conversions from your ads so you can see which ads are working. With this feature on, that measurement happens on your customer's device instead of exclusively on Meta servers."

According to Meta's notice, as reported by Wortfilter and PPC Land, the feature recovers purchases that never make it back to Meta today. It matches them on the customer's device using details the customer already gave you, such as an email address, plus temporary device data. Meta says it only learns that a purchase happened and which campaign gets credit. No code change is needed.

Who does it apply to?

Any business whose Pixel or Conversions API already sends events. It turns on by itself, and you can switch it off in each dataset's settings.

Measurement guide MetricMaven, citing Meta's help pages, lists some limits: it does not run for people in the EU or the UK, the Pixel must be installed directly on the page, and the site must have people log in with an email or phone number. These conditions do not appear in the settings panel itself, so treat them as reported, not confirmed in your account.

Why does this matter right before Black Friday?

November 12 is 15 days before Black Friday on November 27. That is exactly when stores set budgets and decide which campaigns to scale.

If Meta starts counting more purchases, reported ROAS can rise while your bank account sees nothing new. A campaign that looks like it improved may simply be getting credit for sales that already happened. Meta has not said whether these recovered purchases also feed bidding and delivery, or include the order value.

Should I opt out?

For most stores, no, not by default. If the recovered purchases are real, you finally see sales your ads drove. Opt out only if, after November 12, Meta's numbers stop matching your real orders and you cannot explain why.

What matters is that you can tell the difference between "Meta counts more" and "we sell more".

How do I set a baseline before November 12?

  1. Export Meta reported purchases by day for the last 30 days.
  2. Export your paid orders by day from Shopify or WooCommerce for the same days.
  3. Work out the ratio: Meta purchases divided by real orders. Note it down.
  4. Keep the Conversions API running alongside the Pixel.
  5. After November 12, track the same ratio every few days.

If the ratio jumps while real orders stay flat, the change is in counting, not in sales. Base your Black Friday scaling decisions on ROAS calculated from your real orders.

How do I find the setting?

In Events Manager, open Data sources, choose your Pixel, then open Settings. The toggle sits under "Automatically include more detailed page and product info." Switch it off there if you decide to opt out, and note the date.

FAQ

Will Meta report more conversions after November 12?

It may. The setting is designed to recover purchases Meta cannot see today, so reported purchases can rise even if your real orders do not change.

Does on device measurement change my attribution window?

According to Meta's help pages, as cited by MetricMaven, the attribution window and model stay the same. What changes is which purchases Meta can see.

How do I know if my ROAS really improved?

Calculate ROAS from your real store orders and compare it with Meta's reported ROAS. If only Meta's number moves, the reporting changed, not your results.

Is there a tool that checks whether Meta's numbers match my store?

Yes. Run1Ads compares Meta's reported purchases with what happens on your store and flags it when they stop matching, with the fix explained step by step. It reads your account through the official Marketing API and advises only.
