Meta Ads Black Friday 2026: What to Change Before November 27

Quick answer

Before Black Friday 2026, check three Meta changes that reach your account without you doing anything: product browsing was switched on in existing ads on October 28, the Pixel starts "Measure conversions on customer devices" on November 12, and Meta's revised Commercial Terms take effect on November 20. Then lock your Black Friday creative by mid November, cut ad sets so each one can reach about 50 conversions a week, and raise budgets in small steps. Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30, so you have about four weeks. Judge every change against real store orders, not only Ads Manager.

What changed in Meta ads before Black Friday 2026?

Three dated changes land in the run up to the biggest sales week of the year.

Product browsing, October 28. PPC Land reported that Meta told advertisers: "Starting October 28, 2026, we'll add product browsing to your existing ads." When someone taps your ad, they may see product info and personalized suggestions inside Facebook or Instagram before they reach your site. Meta backs this with a claim of 3% more conversions on average, from its own test across about 117,700 advertisers run from August 6 to August 21, 2026. The notice does not say which conversions were counted, at what cost, or whether new ads are affected. You can turn it off per ad in Advantage+ Creative and Destination settings.

Pixel counting, November 12. A new Events Manager setting called "Measure conversions on customer devices" shows "Measurement starting November 12, 2026" and is on by default for datasets already sending events. Meta says it recovers purchases that never reach its servers today. PPC Land notes Meta has not said whether those recovered sales feed bidding or carry purchase value. Your reported conversions could rise with no change in real orders.

Commercial Terms, November 20. Meta moved its revised Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms from October 30 to November 20, 2026, according to PPC Land and Reuters. You accept them by continuing to use Meta for business. The preview says its automated creative features "may make mistakes" and puts the risk of the resulting content on the business.

Should I turn off product browsing before Black Friday?

Not by default, but check it on purpose.

  1. In Ads Manager, open your five highest spending ads and look at Advantage+ Creative and Destination settings.
  2. If your Black Friday offer, bundle or countdown lives on your landing page, consider turning product browsing off on those ads so shoppers see your page first.
  3. If you want to test it, leave it on in one campaign and off in a similar one, then compare store orders from each over a full week.

One media buyer, David Herrmann, wrote on LinkedIn that results he credited to a creative turned out to come from a collection style experience Meta built around it. PPC Land could not verify those cases, but it is a reason to read creative tests carefully this month.

What is the 20 rule on Facebook ads for Black Friday budgets?

It usually means raising budgets in steps of about 20% rather than doubling. Flighted, a Meta ads agency, advises 20 to 30% increases spaced 24 to 48 hours apart, because bigger jumps can push an ad set back into learning in the middle of the sale.

Meta's own peak season post, published October 21, adds a volume rule. In Meta's analysis, ad sets under roughly 50 conversions a week ran about 28% more expensive per purchase. Meta did not publish the method. Its formula is: weekly budget divided by cost per result times 50 equals the most ad sets your budget can support. A store spending $7,000 a week at a $35 cost per purchase could support about four ad sets.

Expect the auction to get pricier. Meta reported that the average price per ad rose 14% year over year in Q3 2026, and Flighted says CPMs typically climb 20 to 35% above October levels on peak sale days.

When should I refresh creative for Black Friday?

Flighted recommends having your Black Friday creative live by November 15, so delivery settles before volume spikes. During the sale it suggests 4 to 6 variants ready and rotating every 3 to 5 days, often by swapping only the hook or headline.

Use the next two weeks for creative testing on Meta ads: different hooks, offers and formats, which is the creative diversification Meta's system rewards. Build your Cyber Monday ads as new ads ahead of time instead of editing your Black Friday ads on the day. Meta's peak season post warns that every edit re-briefs the auction, and suggests grouping changes so one learning phase replaces five.

Week by week Meta ads checklist to Cyber Monday

October 28 to November 3

  • Check product browsing on your top ads and decide on or off.
  • Run Meta's ad set formula and merge ad sets that cannot reach about 50 conversions a week.
  • Write down your baseline: daily Meta purchases next to real store orders for the last 30 days.

November 4 to 10

  • Build Black Friday and Cyber Monday ads as separate new ads and test hooks at a modest budget.
  • Decide on the Pixel setting and keep your Conversions API connection on.

November 11 to 17

  • From November 12, watch the ratio of Meta purchases to store orders every day.
  • Have your Black Friday creative running by November 15.

November 18 to 24

  • The new Commercial Terms apply from November 20. Read the preview before then.
  • Launch sale ads early so they leave learning before the rush, then stop editing.
  • Raise budgets on proven ad sets in 20 to 30% steps.

November 25 to 30

  • Black Friday, November 27: rotate hooks, do not double budgets overnight.
  • Cyber Monday, November 30: switch to the Cyber Monday ads you already had approved.
  • From December 1, step budgets down in stages.

How do I check if these changes are hurting my sales?

  1. Export daily purchases and purchase value from Ads Manager for the last 30 days.
  2. Pull paid orders and sessions for the same days from your store.
  3. Divide Meta purchases by store orders. That ratio is your normal level before November 12.
  4. After November 12, if Meta purchases jump but store orders and sessions do not, the extra is new counting, not new sales.
  5. Work out ROAS from real orders: store revenue in the period divided by Meta spend. Compare it with the ROAS Ads Manager shows.
  6. For product browsing, compare link clicks in Ads Manager with sessions from Meta in your store analytics. If clicks hold but sessions fall, more taps could be staying inside Meta.

FAQ

Is it too late to start Meta ads for Black Friday 2026?

No, but the window is short. Launching sale ads by about November 15 to 20 gives them time to leave learning before November 27. Ads launched on the day start learning when the auction is most expensive.

Should I opt out of Measure conversions on customer devices?

Aimerce chief executive Yiqi Wu, quoted by PPC Land, wrote "I wouldn't opt out by default" and suggested tracking Meta purchases against real orders instead. MetricMaven, citing Meta's help pages, reports the feature is not active for people in the EU or the UK. If the numbers stop matching your orders and you cannot explain why, turning it off is a fair choice.

Do Meta's new Commercial Terms change how my ads run?

Not directly. They change the contract you accept by keeping on using Meta for business, including who carries the risk of content made by Meta's automated features. Read the preview before November 20.
